Luton Road, E17

This project comprised a single storey rear extension to the existing two storey Victorian terraced property. The existing dilapidated rear extensions were removed, the rear of the house decluttered and the entire property was stripped back to its structure (mostly by our clients themselves). A new rear extension design was developed to open up the rear of the house to the garden, accommodating a generous open plan kitchen, dining and study area. A large oak framed sliding box window in the dining area opens up and affords a great view connection with the lovely & lively garden. Adjacent to the box window an oak framed and fully glazed door leads directly into the garden. The new glazing of the large rear window, garden door and also of two new roof lights throws plenty of day & sunlight into the rear of the house – a wonderful space to spend time in.  The rooms on both floors were rebuilt and received well considered new finishes – most walls were finished with breathable lime plaster. The property also needed a ground floor WC which was added off the main corridor, separated from the main living spaces. The extension’s brickwork and colour tone was chosen to match the dark grey colours of the existing bricks on the rear of the house. The extension design received a gable end to create a more interesting and higher internal space with sloping ceiling up to a central ridge line. More photos to follow.
