MOXY Hotel, NEC, Birmingham

Studio VK (and the director’s previous company united architecture) provided local UK partner services for an international client and design team in connection with a new-build hotel project at the NEC in Solihull/ Birmingham. The main project comprised a contemporary 8-storey new-build MOXY hotel with 224 bedrooms and public lounge areas on ground floor. We set up and led a local UK based design team including fire, structural, civil and acoustic engineers to assist and guide the international design team through the concept design, planning and early technical stages up to the tender phase.

We successfully contributed to securing the full planning permission in only eight weeks from submission which allowed the client team to tighten their overall delivery programme,

In parallel to – and post receipt of planning permission we provided technical, coordination and consultancy services in cooperation with the local design team for the preparation of technical D&B tender information.

Post planning Studio VK developed the NBS (National Building Specification) for D&B tender purposes.
