De Beauvoir Town, N1
Planning permission granted/ appeal allowed for a roof top addition and a two-storey rear extension to a three storey Victorian terraced house. The property is located in the De Beauvoir Town Conservation area in Hackney on a relatively exposed corner site. The client’s plans are to extend the family dwelling at the rear on lower and ground floor to create more living space, and to add a roof top extension for additional sleeping accommodation. Internal alterations to generally improve the flow of the house and modernise it are also planned. Well-proportioned rear and roof top extensions have been designed which are intended to sympathetically complement the original house. The roof top addition has been designed to mostly sit and disappear behind the existing parapet lines to minimise the impact on the street scene. At the rear the roof extension is set back from the original rear with the intention that the original ‘butterfly’ roof line can be maintained. More to follow soon.
