Britton Street, EC1M

The task here was to rearrange the existing internal ‘roof access’ of the third floor flat in the heart of Clerkenwell to achieve a fully compliant access stair up to roof level. In addition the clients wished to make the flat roof area usable as a fully permitted roof terrace. Initially a covered and mostly glazed roof sun lounge was developed to the side of the new access stair, but this scheme was reduced to a glazed roof access and fixed seating arrangement for the time being. A planning application was submitted and after close liaison with the Council’s conservation officer full consent was received in October 2017. The flat will also receive thermal improvements and undergo full refurbishment.
